Production Log Week 3

WEEK THREE

Week three was the last chance for me to film any extra bits I needed to do. I started off the week on monday by uploading the footage I had filmed over the week, this would have been all the footabge I had filmed with I.M.D and Boy Blue. Whilst my footage was uploading that I filmed I decided to get the footage from dance work that Kenrick Sandy had done which was all from the internet (Youtube).

So this week was mainly getting through downloading everything I needed from online, this meant that I had to put more time into my work making my hours of editing longer throughout the week instead of just making it during lesson time.

I also had to go and do my last bits of filming, this included my interview with Kenrick Sandy at Centre Stage dance studio where I had to plan call sheets and allow myself to film on a quiet day at the studio as I didn't want the same problem to occur that had already occurred.

Once I filmed the interview with ken rick himself, which was on the wednesday I then had all my time to work on editing my work. This gave me time to do all the voice overs that I needed to do.

WEEK TWO
The beginning of this week I decided to upload all my work to the mac, so I could start editing the footage I already filmed. This allowed me to look back at what I filmed. I realised when editing the westfield interviews that the noise levels were high which affected the ability of being able to hear the the vox pops clearly. This resulted to my only option by not being able to use the vox pops where the noise was to loud for example this is mainly seen through the interviews that were outside Stratford westfield.

After looking at editing and uploading the footage I had filmed I made good use of my lesson period time whilst the vox pops and other footage was uploading. It was here that I was able to film some shots of me talking directly to the camera (piece to camera). This was short and simple and consisted of me going over IMD's interview and allowing me to bring up my next topic which was the show with my dance partner and I. I wanted to use this time to film simple but effective shots where I coudl really enhance my editing skills from different angle shots.

Once I had filmed the piece to camera of me speaking directly to the camera about my next
topic being me and my dance partner and us about performing a show. This involved me also making call sheets for me to get Nicole to be here and the camera operator Guneet Sidhu.

That weekend I went to Wandsworth were the camera followed me and my dance partner to our show at the Lost Theatre this was to add some depth into the documentary. I wanted to allow the viewers to actually see what a dancers life is like and I believed it really did. It showcases the tech run, the travelling to the venue and the performance.

This week I had to overcome sounding issues with where I was filming but this genially helped me in the future weeks to come. I also has to overcome my organisation skills as I had to arrange a lot of things for the weekend for the filming of the show.

Production Log Week 1

WEEK ONE

Week One of my documentary commencing together was mainly about the planning, I had to sit down and consider what things I wanted to film when and what order they would most be easier to do them in. I looked at the people I wanted to interview and when it would be best to call them down to film them. I also had to look at the venues, for example the dance studio being the main problem as dance classes are going on I had to see what day would be the best to film the interview with Kenrick Sandy due to noise.

Wednesday: Coming away from what I planned I decided to go to Westfield shopping centre with Guneet (Former Chadwell Heath student) who was my camera operator. This was to film the opening speech 'Should dance be in the Olympics?' and to film the box pops. This felt most realistic to do as I did not need to do call sheets for because it was a public intake of the subject.

After filming the box pops, I decided to also that week film I.M.D/Boy Blue members at centre stage dance studio, this was to add a variety of opinions to my topic and gain expert opinions (I.M.D) as they are a competition dance based group. This consisted of me asking them questions which ran to about 1hour of filming, as I needed to film cutaways as well.

After reflecting back on this week, I believe there was not many issues, as I didn't film much and didn't have major things to film. This week was a successful week because I done the things and I need to do in the time frame I had.
